Savvy Figueroa is a biracial artist of Puerto Rican and White heritage who creates 2D & 3D animated works using digital tools and experimental narratives to explore identity, cultural duality, and social issues. Early in her college career, her work focused on mastering technical skills, but as her practice has grown, so has her ability to express personal experiences and complex themes. Her work addresses concepts like code-switching, mirroring, and the tension between belonging and disconnection, often using her practice to convey these feelings. Through an experimental storytelling approach, she invites audiences to engage with different perspectives on identity. Her senior project combines animation and sound design to enhance emotional impact and spark dialogue about the complexities of identity in today’s world.
